Vulkanland Region in the South East of Styria is labeled as an European Destination of Excellence EDEN. The region is very active in promoting tourism, starting from the richness of local offers that ranges from wellness and spa offers to sports activities (hiking, nordic walking, cycling, gulf), sight- seeing, culinary art, etc.

 

Thermal baths are embedded in green, unexploited nature. Culture of living in Vulkanland

Day 1 Starting from 2 p.m. arrival of the guests at the hotel (3 stars or farm holiday home). An ambassador of the region welcomes them and accompanies them with things to know, sagas and stories through their stay. Visit of the Tabor in the city of Feldbach, in former times a fortification, nowadays hosting a museum about the history of the border region Vulkanland in the south-east of Austria. Walk through the city centre. Dining together.
Day 2 Excursion to the ham manufactory Vulcano and the historical premises of Castle Kornberg. Traditional dinner.
Day 3 Visit of the world-famous chocolate manufactory Zotter, where you might try more than a 100 varieties of chocolate – all of them fair trade. Lift up the Riegersburg and guided tour through its much fought over premises. The fortress Riegersburg dominates a region of castles and fortresses, which used to be strongholds in the defence of the region against invaders. Today they are popular tourist attractions located along the castle road. Traditional dinner at a Buschenschank.
Day 4 Guided city tour through Graz with a visit of Castle Eggenberg, an architectural highlight, and its park. Traditional dinner.
Day 5 Check-out and departure.

Geomancy & Landscape

Day 1 Starting from 2 p.m. arrival of the guests at the hotel (3 stars or farm holiday home). An ambassador of the region welcomes and guides you throughout your stay – telling you about things to know, sagas and stories about the region and its inhabitants. Presentation of the method ‘Geomancy & Landscape’. Short hike (about 1 hour) followed by a joint dinner.
Day 2 Getting to know the volcanic past of the landscape on a hike. Feeling and sensing of different natural qualities around the Castle Kapfenstein. Four hours of geomantic methods in the countryside with two hours hiking time. Tasting a sweet specialty out of the castle’s kitchen. Enjoying a traditional dinner together.
Day 3 Day ticket for the thermal bath in Bad Gleichenberg. Nestled into the 20ha spa park with high architectural quality, tranquillity is the main focus of this thermal bath. Lunch break in the thermal bath. Dinner on the way back to the accommodation.
Day 4 Short geomantic walk to special places and viewing points. Traditional lunch, tasting wines originating from volcanic soil and dinner on the way back to the accommodation.
Day 5 Check-out and departure.

Yodelling & Gentle exercise in Vulkanland

Day 1 Starting from 2 p.m. arrival of the guests at the hotel – (3 stars or farm holiday home). An ambassador of the region welcomes and guides you during your stay. The playful interaction with your voice and its eco in nature and your body will accompany you throughout the stay. Visit to Straden, a village with four churches. Getting to know the acoustics of churches with easy voice exercises. Joint dinner.
Day 2 Good morning dear voice! Health through breathing exercises and fun through try-outs of the typical Styrian singing – the yodelling. Excursion through the region with a visit to Weltmaschine, ham manufactory Vulcano and the historical premises of Castle Kornberg. Traditional dinner.
Day 3 Day ticket for the thermal bath in Bad Gleichenberg. Nestled into the 20ha spa park with high architectural quality, tranquillity is the main focus of this thermal bath. Lunch break in the thermal bath. Dinner on the way back to the accommodation.
Day 4 Good morning dear voice! Getting to know of elder berry, a typical and very old crop plant of the region. Tasting of elder berry juice – very vital. Winter walk to the Huabn, a special place where a light, but hot lunch is served. Guided meditation with explanations about mental training. Traditional dinner.
Day 5 Check-out and return trip.

Advent in Vulkanland

Day 1 Starting from 2 p.m.: arrival of our guests at the hotel (3 stars). An ambassador of the region welcomes and accompanies them during their stay, passing on things to know, sagas and stories about the region and its inhabitants. Outing to a honey farm. There you learn about the production of honey and its active ingredients. The delicious smell of beeswax is in the air and reminds us of the upcoming Christmas holidays. You form your own candle out of liquid beeswax. Dinner at the hotel. Presentation of the region through pictures.
Day 2 Day-trip along the former volcanic hills to three famous and popular tourist attractions. The fascinating story about the Weltmaschine built by Franz Gsellmann in Edelsbach, the emotional seduction during a visit at Vulcano’s ham heaven and a tour through the chocolate theatre of Josef Zotter charm the visitors. Once seated inside the chocolate theatre everything revolves around the cacao bean and more than a hundred varieties may be tasted during the visit. In conclusion of the day, we’ll visit the Christmas exhibition at the baroque Castle Kornberg. Dinner is served at the hotel.
Day 3 Visit to a gardener. Festive floristic, like the creation of traditional Advent wreaths, puts us in a wonderful mood for the quietest time of the year. Everybody leaves with an own workpiece. Dinner is served in a Buschenschank – a traditional tavern located in the Styrian wine-growing areas – with local music.
Day 4 Guided hike to the Huabn (1.5 hours). There a soup is served and visitors are invited to deliberately experience the landscape, meditation. Trip to the Advent village in Feldbach, walk through the city. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 5 Check-out and return trip.
